First GlobE Network Meeting

15 - 17 November 2021

From 15-17 November 2021, GlobE Network members gathered in Vienna for their first-ever annual meeting. Over 100 participants attended on-line or in-person to begin the critical work of establishing a governance structure, determining member priorities, and agreeing on a Charter.

A Steering Committee was set up to ensure that the Network’s activities reflect the on-the-ground realities of the members themselves. GlobE Members committed to work with existing international cooperation networks and to empower all countries with the capacity to engage in informal cooperation and access resources that will help advance their cases against corruption. GlobE Members agreed to work closely, share information and build upon the efforts of one another to create an agile and inclusive community against transnational corruption.

The three-day meeting was composed of two parts:

  • an open session on the first day for all Member States of the United Nations, States parties to the Convention, representatives of Permanent Missions, anti-corruption authorities who have not yet joined the Network, and relevant international cooperation platforms and organizations; and
  • closed sessions exclusively for the member authorities of the GlobE Network.
Meeting outcomes
  • Adoption of the Charter
  • Establishment of the governance structure
  • New Chair and Steering Committee
  • Exploration of subgroups to support the new Steering Committee
  • Consideration of proposals on tools and services of GlobE Network
